Abstract: This paper presents a simulation exercise undertaken with a newly available regional general equilibrium model for the Spanish region of Andalusia. The exercise is intended to assess the structural adjustment processes and impacts on the Andalusian economy directly induced by the dramatic fall in tourism expenditure which occurred in the year 2020, due to the prevention measures implemented because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We also undertake a preliminary evaluation of the impact on some environmental indicators, such as greenhouse gases emissions and air pollutants. The key insight emerging from our analysis is that the COVID crumbling of tourism demand generates very relevant distributional consequences.

Abstract: Among the main threats facing the tourism sector are crimes, terrorism, and robberies. Researchers in the field state that hotel managers and even tourists themselves are refraining from submitting crime signals. In this respect, one of the main goals of the hotel’s management is to assure enough conditions to the guests to make them feel safe and secure in the hotel facilities. For that purpose, except the commonly used security devices, it is possible specially designed furniture with hidden compartments, where the guests to hide their valuables, to be placed in the hotel rooms. Such furniture are already used in the USA but there is no data or previous researches in the field regarding their use in Bulgaria. The main goal of the study is to present data from survey results of the opinions of hotel managers and tourists regarding the effectiveness and the future use of such furniture. The collection of data among hotel managers is based on the case study method. The survey among tourists is based on the questionnaires distributed on the spot. The study of statistical relationships and dependencies is based on the Chi-square test. The findings of the study show mixed reactions by the tourists even though the majority would use furniture with hidden compartments. Managers however do not see any benefits (financial or marketing) from it. The presented results are part of wider questionaries’ and data collected under the project "Model Development and Testing for Monitoring and Evaluation of Sustainable Tourism Development in Bulgaria (after the example of national resorts)" financed by the National Science Fund, contract No КП06-Н25/3 from 13.12.2018

Abstract: Online Travel Agent (OTA) is an online-based start-up company that serves ticket purchases, hotel room reservations, and tourist attraction ticket purchases. One of the many OTA companies that collaborate with accommodation providers is Traveloka. This study aims to analyze the role of OTA in increasing room occupancy in Balkondes Sakapitu. This research is qualitative research with a case study research design. This study indicates that OTA plays an essential role in increasing room occupancy at Balkondes Sakapitu. The increase in room occupancy is measured by the number of online reservation levels through Traveloka within three months from October to December 2020. The role of increasing room occupancy, the use of OTA in this case Traveloka includes: showing the position or position of the hotel based on reviews from guests and a forum for promotion and sales. There are advantages and disadvantages of using Traveloka for Balkondes Sakapitu. These advantages include marketing personnel's efficiency, saving operational costs, easy to change prices, and statistical data reports. While the drawbacks: the difference in sales prices, long payment tempo, and needed qualified HR. The strength of this research, when compared with previous research, is that this study reveals the pattern of cooperation between the hotel and OTA, and discusses the distribution of commission amounts that in previous studies not discussed.
