Abstract: Masyarakat ASEAN telah mulai berlaku sejak 31 Desember 2015 dengan tiga pilar yakni Masyarakat Ekonomi ASEAN, Masyarakat Politik dan Keamanan ASEAN dan Masyarakat Sosial Budaya ASEAN. --- The ASEAN Community has come into force on 31 December 2015 with three pillars i.e. ASEAN Economic Community, ASEAN Political and Security Community and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community. Indonesian migrant workers (IMW) have tremendous potential to develop. Statistics of the National Agency for the Placement and Protection of Indonesian Workers (BNP2TKI) shows the placement of IMW in 2011 with 586.802 people, 494.609 people (2012), 512.168 persons (2013), 429.872 people (2014) and 275.736 people in 2015. Statistics shows a significant number of migrant workers abroad. Interesting facts of Indonesia's migration for works in Southeast Asia, Malaysia became the country with the largest number of placements. Followed by Singapore, Brunei Darussalam and Thailand. These four ASEAN member countries are located among 25 countries placement of IMW from the distribution of 170 countries. Convergence theory became the theoretical framework used in this study. The method used is literature study to trace the sources of information relevant to this study. This study concludes that IMW has the opportunity to access employment which has been agreed upon by ASEAN member countries through Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA), however the profession agreed by MRAs still needs support for its development from the Indonesian government in order to be optimally utilized. While the challenge faced is the profile of IMW is still dominated by informal workers, so it takes the Indonesian government efforts to increase interest as a formal workforce.

Abstract: We explore the contribution of product-quality upgrading to the export performance of six fast-growing Asian economies: China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, and Thailand. We focus on measuring the impact of quality upgrading on the changes in these countries’ sectoral export shares during 1970–2010. We build a multisector Ricardian trade model which allows for changes in product quality, and calibrate it to generate predictions about export volumes. Unlike previous literature, our approach allows estimation without employing domestic production data. Our results point to quality upgrading being a key driver of export shares.

Dalam dinamika hubungan AS dan Myanmar, keluarnya AS dari Myanmar dikarenakan rezim militer otoriter pimpinan Ne Win menolak segala bentuk bantuan AS tahun 1963. Namun tahun 1990, angin segar demokrasi kembali berhembus ketika suatu kekuatan politik baru muncul yakni National League for Democracy (NLD) pimpinan Aung San Suu Kyi. --- Freedom for the community is an important point behind the presence of democratic values in the midst of the nation. Based on the past experience, the founding father of the American nation has learned that people restrictions by the government are not allowed, so the democratic values are really anti-coercion. The presence of democratic values in the absence of political participation in a country seems to be an oasis for the people of the country. The US view that makes democracy a means of creating peace as the German philosopher Immanuel Kant thinks that in a republic (a state of democratic law), where the policies of each state are determined according to the will of the citizens, and not the will of a dictator. In this discussion the author focuses on one of the countries in Southeast Asia are still unstable in the application of democracy, namely Myanmar. In the dynamics of US and Myanmar relations, the US exit from Myanmar due to the authoritarian military regime led Ne Win rejected all forms of US aid in 1963. But in 1990, the fresh air of democracy blew again when a new political force emerged namely the National League for Democracy (NLD) Aung San Suu Kyi. Encouraged by US desires to democratize Myanmar, the United States fully supports the NLD's struggle for US policy on democracy in Myanmar. Furthermore, the US policy of imposing economic sanctions on Myanmar in 1997 based on congressional decision is also implemented in order to suppress the military government of Myanmar in order to accelerate the transition to democracy. The two policies then led to internal turmoil in Myanmar which eventually urged the military government to immediately implement the democratic system. Based on our review there are seven implications that come from internal and external Myanmar. The US policy in the application of democratic system is considered successful, because the two US policies have an impact on democratic transition in Myanmar.

--- Currently there are no indicators that can measure the effectiveness of the role of ASEAN in Southeast Asia, especially those related to human security issues. Though this indicator can be used as an evaluation tool for an institution to assess the success rate, as well as things that are considered necessary to be addressed. This paper will further analyze the human security issues in Southeast Asia starting with conceptualizing, identifying, and engaging. Based on the above three stages of analysis it will show the problems that have been handled and have not been done by ASEAN institutionally. In addition to showing the relevance of the establishment of ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) 2015 as an affirmation for all ASEAN member countries to respond to institutional human security issues, this paper will also answer the research question: How is the effectiveness of ASEAN's role in addressing Human Security issues in Southeast Asia Region?

--- Local election / regional head election is antithesis of appointment of region head which have lasted long enough, at least almost as old with Old Order Era plus with New Order Era or about 50 year from 70 year old of Indonesian was established. Appointment and election are two different things. Elected is certainly more democratic than appointed. Elected is the result of a number of alternatives, while being lifted is more impressed with a choice that comes from the top. Local election is a system built by the government to ensure the Regional Head comes from the people's choice, not the appointment of officials or powers above it. Typically, elections take place in accordance with the political activities of each region, where the five-year term is used as a benchmark for the implementation of re-elections. However, on December 9, 2015 this calendar has changed based on the consideration of efficiency and effectiveness of Local election implementation in the future. Therefore, the elections that will take place in Indonesia is the biggest democracy party ever conducted in this country, even in the world. In this paper, the authors challenged to examine how the possibilities would arise as the implications of this Local concurrent election on the social, political and economic aspects of society in Indonesia.

Abstract: The 2018 Asian Games was the biggest sports event in the history of Asian Games. Held in Indonesia, the sports event contested 40 sports and 465 events while served for 11,326 athletes from 45 Asian countries, apart from hundreds of thousands of international visitors, officials and journalists. While required a considerable amount of public spending, such a massive scale of event generated large economic stimuli to Indonesian economy, among which were the spending of international participants and spectators. This study aims to estimate the determinants of international participants and spectators’ spending. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews during the event. The findings suggest that the spending and spending composition of international participants and spectators vary across types of participants, country of origins, gender, age group and traveling experiences. The academic and policy implications of the findings are discussed.

Abstract: Data mortalitas suatu negara biasanya disajikan dalam bentuk life table.

Abstract: The title of this undergraduate thesis is Examining the Effect of Inflation, Bank Indonesia Certificates (SBI) Rate and Indonesian Rupiah Exchange Rate on Mining Company Stock Returns in the 2013 – 2015 period. The objective of this study is to analyze some points, such as (a) the effect of inflation on stock returns, (b) the effect of SBI rate on stock returns, (c) the effect of Indonesian Rupiah exchange rate on stock returns, and (d) simultant effect of inflation, SBI rate and Indonesian Rupiah exchange on stock returns. However, the research focuses on a mining company which is registered in the Indonesian Stock Exchange. The study uses purposive sampling method and a causal-comparative research. Regarding the data collection, this study uses direct observation method. Based on the multiple regression coefficient test, it can be concluded that the inflation (0.0002) and SBI rate (0.018) give effect on stock returns because its significant value is <0.05. On the opposite, the exchange rate does not give any effect on the stock returns because its significant value is 0.115 > 0.05. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly affect financial performance that of significant value is 0.010 < 0.05. As a result, the coefficient of determination concludes that the six independent variables affect the 17.4% of financial performance.

Abstract: The share of agriculture to GDP is continuously declining in Malaysia, but agricultural sector is very crucial to ensure food security, employment generation, socioeconomic improvement, economic growth, poverty reduction, and overall achievement of vision 2020. The East Coast Economic Region (ECER) represents 34% of total national agricultural area, which has a good potentiality to improve productivity and reduce high poverty intensity in this area. Realizing the importance, Malaysian government has taken a large development project in the ECER region in 2006, but much is not known about the project due to limited number of study and unavailability of official performance report of the project. Hence this study is an attempt to explore one of the niche areas, which is agricultural crops sector. The major initiatives of agricultural crops sector include establishing three agro valleys as major vegetable and short-term crop growing areas. These involve organized modern farming methods in a sustainable manner to improve efficiency and productivity of agricultural production of paddy, vegetables, and fruits. The prospects of the project are also very much anticipative, because the size of domestic market has grown in recent years. But there are lots of challenges to meet the target of the project. Institutional supports, physical infrastructural supports like transportations, irrigations, and preservation facilities are not adequate in this area. To meet the target and to ensure the success of the projects, some more initiatives for improvements and proper management are also necessary. These include, for example, farmer‟s cooperative or institutional involvement for marketing the crops, financial supports and subsidies, cooperation among agents and departments, training to avoid environment degradations, and adaptation techniques to cope with adverse effects of climatic changes, etc. It is expected that the relevant government authority and agencies, especially the ECER project authority, will be highly benefited from the findings of the study

Abstract: Climate change has mixed impacts on agriculture that differ among the areas, periods, and crops. The changing factors of climate, especially rainfall and temperature, have been causing very strong negative impacts on Malaysian agriculture. Projection shows that the gap between current and potential yields will increase more in future that would lead to an unsustainable nature of agriculture in Malaysia. Based on the time series linear and log linear OLS regression model, this paper discusses the impacts of rainfall and temperature on the paddy sector by using the micro data of IADA at North West Selangor, Malaysia from 1992 to 2007. This study found that the output of micro data varies with the aggregate data, and concludes that both temperature and rainfall have significant negative impacts on paddy production. It also provides policy recommendations and action plans to adapt and to cope properly with the changing nature of climate factors

Abstract: This article aims to dissect education political thinking in Indonesia regarding policies built for the advancement and Development of Indonesian community education quality. The educational policy that is still flavoured with capitalist and structuralist makes the pattern of education only produce human mapping in certain groups and strata of science. The approach used in this writing is literature research, with a data analysis technique in the form of content analysis with the aim of obtaining valid inference and can be re-examined based on its context. In the results of the study of education policy in Indonesia, there are several objectification for the changes in the strata policy to find their own identity as an institution that produces human resources. The need to change the centrality of educational patterns with generalities based on human resource capabilities and infrastructure availability. Using patterns of active theory, a view that emphasizes the observation of educational inputs collectively where the most important angle to be considered by the educational policymakers is the process of personal maturity of the students who must be facilitated, of their needs and be guided towards maturity.

Abstract: The existence of the rural bank in the Indonesian’ financial market is more pronounced recently than ever especially after the Asian crisis in 1997. The ability of rural banks to shield during the crisis and the state programs to develop small and medium enterprises (SMEs), make the role of rural banks more pivotal. Rural banks begin to fill in the gap of financial services in rural areas. Recently, the issue of efficiency has received attention among academic researchers. This study estimates the technical and scale efficiency of rural banks in Indonesia during the period of 2006 and 2007 by using the non-parametric approach – Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). The results suggest that the degree of technical efficiency is found to be lower than the degree of scale efficiency which indicates that portion of overall inefficiency is due to producing below the production frontier rather than producing at an inefficient scale. In addition, majority of the banks in the sample exhibit suboptimal scale which imply that output should be expanded to reach the optimal scale.

Abstract: This paper examines the risk and return profiles of energy companies with renewable energy (RE) investment in developing countries taking the Philippines as our country case study. First, we analyze the impact of the global RE project specific risk and country risk on RE projects using a simple capital asset pricing model (CAPM) by benchmarking stock returns of these companies to either the global S&P (S&PGCE) index or to the local Philippine Stocks Exchange (PSE) index. Our findings show that on short- and mid- to long term investment interval, a “pure” RE company, the Energy Development Corporation (EDC), is affected by both these risks examined, while those with partial investment in renewables are affected only on the short-term. Next, we calculated these companies’ abnormal returns by using the Jensen’s alpha. Results show that EDC's alpha values are positive on all short- and medium-to-long term investments and on both indices, suggesting that Philippine RE companies are possibly underestimated on both the global RE market and the Philippine stock market. Lastly, we examined the latest Feed-in Tariff (FIT) level by using the beta results of EDC and the FIT structure of solar PV. Results show that the FIT rate generates profit to both the global and local RE companies’ risk and returns from the investors’ perspective, but is higher than the desired FIT rate from the policymakers’ perspective. This paper aids in investment decision-making by showing that differences in investment timeframes and RE shares could impact investment outcomes in developing countries.

Abstract: Malaysia is one of the highly vulnerable countries due to climatic changes. Here the changes in climate factors cause adverse impacts on agricultural sustainability and relevant livelihood sustainability. To adapt to these changes a prudent adaptation policy is very important. Several countries follow different adaptation policy based on their localized socioeconomic and geographical status. While defining its adaptation policy, Malaysia also needs to consider several crucial factors. This study discusses issues relevant to the farmers’ adaptation to climate change in Malaysia and also provides few recommendations that will help policy makers to prepare the agricultural adaptation policy for climate change

Bagaimana akhirnya pemerintah bersikap? Pertimbangan apa saja yang mendasarinya? Temukan dalam tulisan ini, selamat membaca. --- This manuscript is part of the book Dinamika dan Transformasi Politik Internasional (Dynamics and Transformation of International Politics) derived from a collection of undergraduate thesis summary of International Relations students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. This article illustrates the dilemma facing by the Indonesian government in the process of ratification of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of all Migrant Workers and their families in 2012.

Abstract: The climatic factors are changing very rapidly in Malaysia. Agriculture which depends heavily on climate is becoming increasingly vulnerable to risk and uncertainty. In order to face and manage the situation, farmers are trying in various ways and government and other external agencies are providing several supports to adapt to these climatic vulnerabilities. However, there is still a gap between farmers’ adaptability and climate change. This study analyses paddy farmers’ perception of climatic variations and vulnerabilities and relevant supports and techniques to adapt to the situation. The data were collected through questionnaire survey on 198 paddy producing farmers in the area of Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA), North-West Selangor, Malaysia. This study uses descriptive statistics, ordinal regression, percentile, and scale analysis. The study finds that most farmers do not have a clear perception of the climatic changes and vulnerabilities. Farmers’ adaptation practices to climatic vulnerability are mostly based on their common sense responses. It suggests that farmers need necessary training and support from the government and international agencies to enable them to effectively adapt to the climatic vulnerability and avert any adverse effect on their socioeconomic sustainability and national food security. Farmers’ expectations of several new supports has no statistically significant influences on their current adaptability with climatic changes, but their priority ranking for these expected supports will help policymakers to determine future support for climatic change adaptation for agriculture sustainability and livelihood sustainability under adverse climatic change scenarios, especially for Malaysia.

Abstract: The changing nature of climatic factors has different impacts on agriculture based areas, periods and crops. Farmers are the most vulnerable group who are affected both directly and indirectly through climatic changes. In the study area in Malaysia, climatic changes have adverse impacts on farmers. Due to climatic change, productivity and profitability of paddy cultivation have declined in the Integrated Agricultural Development Area, North-West Selangor. Farmers perceive that paddy cultivation is no longer profitable due to low productivity as a result of climatic changes. They now prefer full-time to part-time engagement in paddy cultivation. Heavy government subsidy and encouragement are not enough; it requires increase in productivity and profitability of paddy cultivation for making it a viable and sustainable sector. All efforts of mitigation and adaptation must be pursued to counter the adverse impacts of climatic changes and increase the productivity of paddy cultivation in the area. It is observed that there is a high degree of income inequality among the paddy farmers in the study area.

Abstract: Climate change is proven to have had impacted the agricultural productivity, crop choice, and food security everywhere in the world. The nature, scale, frequency, and outcome of such impact differ significantly among countries, regions and areas within a country. This study is an effort to empirically investigate theses issues for Malaysia using both primary and secondary data collected from and relevant to the Integrated Agriculture Development Areas in the Northwest Selangor. The results reveal that climate change phenomenon such as natural disaster, drought, flood, pest attack, plant disease, and changing the time of crop cycle have adversely been impacting Malaysian agriculture and its productivity as well as profitability. Despite continuous increases of government subsidy as well as permission only for paddy production, the paddy planting area is decreasing as the agricultural farmers often experience adverse impacts of climatic variation. So, climate change phenomenon is also depressingly impacting the state of food security among the farmers. As climate change is universal and its existence is indefinite, the farmers need to adapt to and find ways to mitigate the damages of climatic variation in order for them to sustain agricultural productivity and attain food security

Abstract: This paper examines the cost ef ciency of banks operating in selected countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). We calculate the cost ef ciency base on accounting ef ciency and economic ef ciency using Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) and then classify it as ef cient and not. Further, bank speci c and economic variables are combined to determine the cost ef ciency and the ef ciency category (ef ciency dummy) using linear regression and logistic regression. The results show that bank ef ciency determined by asset size, dummy of economic crisis, interest rate gap, economic growth, in ation, capital, earning assets and loan losses provision. Only capital, earning asset and loan loss provision are consistent for accounting and economic ef ciencies. For economic variable, economic growth and in ation rate are only signi cant in the accounting ef ciency. The result implied that ASEAN banking should continue to consolidate the asset size and the authority should create high economic growth and a low in ation environment to make their banking industry more ef cient.

Abstract: Climate and agriculture highly interrelated. Agriculture is highly dependent on the climatic factors. The climatic factors as well as other factors that are determined by climate cause vulnerability of agriculture and agricultural production. Using a survey method this study aims to determine the impacts of climatic change on agricultural vulnerability in the Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA), West Selangor, Malaysia. Results suggest that over the last 5 years vulnerability of the factors like, injurious insects, high temperature, soil fertility loss, and cost of input materials increased greatly due to climatic changes; and the vulnerability of the factors like shortage of rainfall, excessive rainfall, and labor scarcity increased moderately during this period. It is projected that due to climate change agricultural production sustainability will become vulnerable in Malaysia by 2020

Abstract: Currently, application of Information Technology in higher education in Indonesia is more directed and focused on administrative and management areas only. This condition resulted in no system which aims to monitor in detail the process of student's academic activities in the class available. On the other hand, through a process of observation toward student's academic activities, the university can obtain knowledge that can be used to support and improve the performance of student's academic activities. Based on these issues, there is a concept called the SRM (Student Relationship Management). The SRM system was inspired by CRM (Customer Relationship Management), which handles and manages the relationship between university and students to gain knowledge that is useful to both parties, especially for students. Furthermore, this knowledge can be used to support and improving students' academic performance. SRM applications which were developed in this study based upon the technological infrastructure that traditionally supports the Business Intelligence. The data that used in this research came from data of MTI UGM student's academic activities. This information will be stored in a dimensional database which will be analyzed by using fuzzy classification method for identifying patterns of academic activities that occurred. The result of process analysis will be used by the college to determine the appropriate action for students and to improve the performance of academic activities of the students'.

Abstract: Corporate social responsibility (CSR) has become a hot issue recently in both business academic theory and practice. A number of academic studies have investigated its effects on a company’s financial performance. Many found that CSR has a positive influence on stakeholders’ perception of the company’s business practices leading to their favourable reactions. This present study focuses on job seekers’ perceived CSR and how they respond to job offers. Moreover, personal values (including Self-transcendence, Self-enhancement, Conservation and Openness to change) which are considered to be driving factors in an individual’s ethical decision making are also taken into consideration as moderators of the relationship between applicants’ perceived CSR and their job pursuit intention. Most of the previous researches have been conducted in developed countries. In order to have more knowledge about CSR concept in developing countries, the present study is carried out in Vietnam context. The finding confirms the positive impact of Vietnamese job seekers’ CSR perception on their job choice decision. However, little evidence was found to support the moderating effects of personal values.

Abstract: Export trade balance, oil and non-oil imports, Indonesia is in an active state or economy to prosper, while the results of multiple regression analysis showed that the export of non oil/gas, non oil/gas import, oil and gas imports and economic growth positive effect on the labor force participation rate, which means every increased four variables also increased labor force participation rate, while oil and gas exports have negative effect means that any increased export of oil and gas resulting in a decline in labor force participation rates and significant effect of all the variables of the labor force participation rate in Indonesia. Multiple correlation coefficients obtained r = 0.998 shows the effect of variable export of non oil/gas, non oil/gas import, export of oil and gas, oil and gas imports, economic growth together very strong and the coefficient of determination together the five variables can be R = 0.996 shows the percentage contribution of influence together of 99% means that only 0.01% contribution of other variables influence the level of labor force participation in Indonesia. It can be concluded that the development of oil and gas trade and non-oil and gas in Indonesia still need cooperation between individual communities, private sector, civil society and government in an effort to increase trade in Indonesia, because it is very big influence on the labor force participation rate that could lower the unemployment rate and can automatically reducing poverty, because unemployment and poverty in Indonesia is still high when compared with some other countries in the world

Abstract: Treating occupations as bundles of tasks rather than discrete categories is the central idea upon which the "task approach" to labor market analysis is built. To apply the framework, this paper maps the 3,279 task characteristics of occupations using the International Standard Classification of Occupations 2008 (ISCO-08) to derive the task portfolios of 424 occupations listed under the Philippine Standard Occupational Classification (PSOC). These portfolios allow us to measure how intensive an occupation is in performing different tasks (e.g. non-routine analytical, non-routine interpersonal, non-routine manual, routine cognitive and routine manual). The main contribution of this paper is the task portfolios of the 424 occupations, which can be a starting point for further studies on the implications of automation, immigration, and international offshoring on employment and the returns to specific skills, not just in the Philippines but also for countries which base their local occupational codes to the ISCO.

Abstract: Pariwisata belum lama diresmikan menjadi ilmu mandiri. Abstract: Penerapan Strategi E-business Untuk Meningkatkan Keunggulan Kompetitif dari Usaha Mikro Kecil Menengah di Indonesia (Studi Kasus Trooper Electronic Yogyakarta).

Abstract: The climatic factors are changing very rapidly in Malaysia. For the farmers to adapt with the changes, government and other external agencies are providing several supports. But still there is a gap between farmers’ adaptability with climate change and current level of supports. This study uses descriptive statistics, ordinal regression, and percentile analysis to measure the level of farmers’ adaptability to climate change as a result of the various existing supports and encouragements provided by the government and other external agencies, and new supports expected by farmers. The data were collected through questionnaire survey on 198 paddy producing farmers in the area of Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA), North-West Selangor, Malaysia. The study found that among current types of supports provided by different agencies, only farmers’ accessibility in the market is statistically significant for influencing their current adaptability to climatic changes. Though 58.6% of the farmers agree that government supports are enough to cope properly with climate change, 12.1% of farmers are not able to cope with climate change with the current level of supports. Farmers’ expectations of several new supports has no statistically significant influences on their current adaptability with climatic changes, but their priority ranking for these expected supports will help policymakers to determine the future supports for climatic change adaptation for agriculture sustainability and livelihood sustainability under adverse climatic changes scenarios, especially for Malaysia.

Abstract: The agriculture of Malaysia is one of the most vulnerable sectors due to the rapid changes in climatic factors in Malaysia. In order to face and manage the situation, farmers are trying in various ways and government and other external agencies are providing several supports to adapt to these climatic vulnerabilities. Still, there is a gap between farmers’ adaptability and adverse impacts of climatic change. Here, sustainability of agriculture and relevant livelihood is strongly dependent on the external supports, and farmers also expect to increase this level. Now, the focus on farmers’ adaptability to climate change needs to go beyond the incentive and subsidy. They also need trainings, conceptual supports, and technological innovations. This study finds out the required supports that farmers need to adapt to climate change through a questionnaire survey on 198 paddy producing farmers in the area of Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA), North-West Selangor, Malaysia. The data of the study has been analyzed by descriptive statistics, ordered regression, percentile, and scale analysis. The findings of the study are important for the policy makers and relevant agencies.

Abstract: It seems to have been apparent in developing nations that economic growth and urbanization are always interrelated. Malaysia's rapid economic growth has also resulted in a considerable growth of urbanization. As gleaned from the other side of the coin, the process of such urbanization had twisted numerous negative impacts on the socioeconomic aspects of the urban low income and poor communities living in the low-cost flats and squatters. One of the major impacts of Malaysia's rapid urbanization is the transformation in the socio-economic profile of the urban low income and poor communities. This paper aims to determine and analyze the socio-economic indicators affecting the profile of the urban low income and poor communities residing in the squatters and low-cost flats of Kuala Lumpur city, Malaysia. To pursue the objective, the study has conducted a field survey, collected primary data from the level of living conditions of the urban low income and poor households and has employed some statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and the chi-square test. The empirical findings of this study appeared to have important policy implications and are expected to enable the respective policy and decision makers in their effort to alleviate urban poverty

Abstract: Heavy metals are widely used in various industries and became a great concern all over the world due to environmental contamination. This study provides an assessment of seasonal variability and risks to human health associated with the exposure to heavy metals concentrated in Langat river water of Malaysia. The Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia kindly provided the heavy metal concentration data in water for this study. Several multivariate estimation such as an independent t test, box-and-whisker plot and Principal component analysis were carried out to evaluate the seasonal variation of metals concentration in water. The average value of ten analyzed metals was 250.81 µg/l and followed in order of abundance by August > Jun > February > October > April > December > March > May > September > January > July > November. The calculated HPI was 123.42, which is far above the critical index value of 100, indicating pollution with respect to heavy metals. Estimates of health risks associated with river water were summarized according to non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic health effects. No potential threat was detected for noncarcinogenic risk as the HI values calculated were <1. Potential carcinogenic risks associated with the ingestion and dermal absorption of heavy metals in water were evaluated probabilistically by performing 10,000 trails for Monte Carlo simulation where potential carcinogenic risk exists in case of Cd and As.It is necessary to take proper steps to reduce the pollution of heavy metals in Langat River.

Abstract: The concept of sustainable development epitomizes theoretical frameworks advocating in favor of at least maintaining the rate of development attained in the previous period. Traditionally, development was viewed from a narrow dimension that focused primarily on the development of the economy. However, with time, development has gathered emphasis from a broader perspective incorporating economic, social and environmental welfares into consideration. However, corruption is perceived to be a major factor inhibiting sustainable development all around the globe. The aim of this paper is to shed light on the corruption-sustainable development nexus from the perspective of select 47 countries across Asia, Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC). The paper attempts to estimate the elasticities of socioeconomic and environmental development indicators with regard to corruption and other macroeconomic fundamentals using annual data from 2000 to 2015. In addition, the paper also tests the Environmental Kuznets’s Curve hypothesis in a panel framework and estimates the threshold levels of income at which the environmental degradation takes place with economic growth. Panel unit root and cointegration tests are used while the Three-Stage Least Squares (3SLS) estimation technique is employed to calculate the associated elasticities. Moreover, in order to check the robustness of the relationships, Panel Vector-Error Correction Model (VECM) and Granger causality test are also considered to understand the short run and long-run causal associations between the variables. In light of the estimated results, corruption is found to have a negative relationship with socioeconomic development across the Asian, African and LAC subpanels. In addition, corruption negatively affects environmental development in the context of the Asian and African subpanels while positively affecting in context of the LAC subpanel. Moreover, the findings also suggest that the EKC hypothesis holds true only in the cases of the full panel and the LAC subpanel, with the threshold per capita GDP being around 12,000 US$ and 12,780 US$, respectively. Our paper also finds short run bidirectional causality between corruption and socioeconomic development in the context of all the countries cumulatively which did not hold to be true in the long run. Furthermore, corruption and CO2 emissions portray short bi-directional causality in context of the selected Asian economies and a unidirectional causality running from corruption to CO2 emission for all the economies as a whole.

Abstract: Paddy is the main food crop in Malaysia, but due to a low rate of productivity, the land area for paddy production is gradually decreasing. As a consequence, it is critically important to know the socio-economic characteristics of the paddy farmers and their linkage with agricultural productivity to ensure the sustainability of paddy farms as well as farmers’ livelihood. This study analyses the relationships between the paddy yields and the socioeconomic characteristics of the farmers in the Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA), North-West Selangor, Malaysia. The data was collected through a survey. To analyse the data, this study conducted cross-sectional multiple OLS regressions. The findings of the study revealed that several socio-economic and physical characteristics had significant effects on paddy productivity in Malaysia. Based on the findings, some policy recommendations and action plans have been proposed focusing on paddy productivity and socio-economic sustainability of the livelihood. The findings of the study are important for the policymakers and relevant agencies.

Abstract: Five competitive forces that comprise bargaining power of buyers, bargaining power of suppliers, threat of new entrants, threat of substitute products or services, and intensity of rivalries have been studied by many researchers for several years. However, linking them with Porter’s generic strategy in order to gain financial and market performance in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) context is very rare. The main purpose of this study is to analyze how those five competitive forces affect generic strategies developed by Porter and how the generic strategies affect firm performances. Questionnaire, survey and deep interview were conducted to figure out the implemented generic strategies by the owners of MSMEs of wooden furniture in East Java, Indonesia. Smart partial least square (PLS) was used to analyse the data. The results show that power of buyers (PoB) significantly affects only differentiation strategy (DS), power of supplies (PoS) significantly affects cost leadership strategy (CLS) and focus strategy (FS) but does not significantly affect differentiation strategy (DS), and threat of rivalries (ToR) significantly affects differentiation strategy (DS) and focus strategy (FC). In regards to the relationship between generic strategies and firm performances (FP), the results of this study show that both DS and FS significantly affect FP, while CLS does not significantly affect FP. Based on these findings, it is suggested that the owners of MSMEs wooden furniture in East Java (Indonesia) consider PoB, PoS, and ToR before performing DS and FS to gain much greater firm performances in the future.

Abstract: I ask whether electrification causes industrial development. I combine newly digitized data from the Indonesian state electricity company with rich manufacturing census data. To understand when and how electrification can cause industrial development, I shed light on an important economic mechanism - firm turnover. In particular, I study the effect of the extensive margin of electrification (grid expansion) on the extensive margin of industrial development (firm entry and exit). To deal with endogenous grid placement, I build a hypothetical electric transmission grid based on colonial incumbent infrastructure and geographic cost factors. I find that electrification causes industrial development, represented by an increase in the number of manufacturing firms, manufacturing workers, and manufacturing output. Electrification increases firm entry rates, but also exit rates. Empirical tests show that electrification creates new industrial activity, as opposed to only reorganizing industrial activity across space. Higher turnover rates lead to higher average productivity and induce reallocation towards more productive firms in electrified areas. This is consistent with electrification lowering entry costs, increasing competition and forcing unproductive firms to exit more often. Without the possibility of entry or competitive effects of entry, the effects of electrification are likely to be smaller.

Abstract: Agricultural contribution to GDP in Malaysia has been declining since 1970. The usages of agricultural land are also gradually decreasing. Even within the total agricultural area, most of the land has been used for industrial crops, and the ratio between industrial crops and food crops is increasing. Paddy is the main food crop in Malaysia, but as a low rate of productivity, farmers are engaged on part time basis. Therefore, it seems necessary to know the socioeconomic characteristics of the paddy farmers, their livelihood, and agricultural sustainability for policy implementation and its evaluation. This study analyzes the current profile of the paddy farmers in the Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA), NorthWest Selangor, Malaysia based on primary data. The data was collected through a questionnaire survey. Findings of the study suggest policy recommendations and action plans for the improvement of the farmers’ livelihood. The findings of the study are important for the policy makers and relevant agencies.

Abstract: This paper primarily examines whether Malaysia has had experienced any structural breaks in comparison with its main two trading partners, namely the USA and Japan in 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. It also discusses the implications of such structural breaks to Malaysia’s economic globalization at the international level. Using some econometric and statistical tools such as the ADF test, transformed lag equation, Chow Breakpoint test, and CUSUM test, the study reveals that only at 1% level of significance income ratio of Japan and Malaysia has had experienced structural breaks in terms of GDP during the periods 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s. In respect of GNI, the study reveals that only at 5% level of significance their income ratio has had experienced structural breaks during these periods. The study further reveals that income ratio of the USA and Malaysia does not have any structural break both in respect of GNI and GDP.

Abstract: The issues of climate change, agricultural sustainability and poverty in Malaysia are found to have been connected one with other in an interesting and circular way. The quantitative determination of the linkages between these three factors is certainly a difficult task, which is beyond the scope of the present study. This study is thus primarily aimed at reviewing the linkages between climate change, agricultural sustainability and poverty in Malaysia. Some issues requiring further investigation in order to clearly understand the linkages between climate change, agricultural sustainability and poverty have been suggested. These have been developed with particular reference to appraisals concerned with the development and implementation of social policy, programmes and practices relevant to these three issues. The study closes with some concluding remarks

Creative industries is largely related to a group of micro , small and medium enterprises which are mostly located in rural areas . Industry has entered the era of globalization which is rapidly developed, so that the role of UKM (small&medium enterprises) in handicraft as a part of the creative industries to achieve welfare society should be developed. The appropriate strategic planning will spur the development of this industry. Mendong craft is one of the creative industry subsector that exists in Sleman. Methods of analysis is using value chain and SWOT analysis. From the data, it is found that mendong craft is a cultured asset that deserve to be developed. Mendong, as the material for the weaved craft is an abundant local natural asset, but a lack of interest from the local community to develop this industry brings less quantity of product that is produced. This craft is still less touched so that it has limitation in creation/ design, production, commerlialization, and distribution. The reality is that the entrepreneurs are afraid to enter the global marked caused by anxiousness about the inability to fulfill demanded quantity.

Abstract: The climatic factors are changing very rapidly in Malaysia. To adapt farmers with the changes, government and other external agencies are providing several kinds of supports, but yet the adaptability is not that high. Approach: To analyze the climate change adaptability of the farmers in Malaysia, this study uses primary data that have been collected through questionnaire survey on paddy farmers in the Integrated Agricultural Development Area (IADA), North-West Selangor, Malaysia. Data have been analyzed by using descriptive statistics and ordered regression. Results: Most farmers believe that buying additional fertilizer from market is not important for their current adaptation capability with climate change. As a consequence, 75.3% of the farmers never used extra fertilizer beyond the fully subsidized quantity. But, 41.4% farmers agree that government’s supports are not enough to adequately cope with climate change. Conclusion/ Recommendations: It is found that sustainability of agriculture and farmers’ livelihood are strongly dependent on the external supports. Therefore, farmers’ adaptability to climate change needs to be addressed through steps beyond the incentives and subsidies. Farmers need training and motivational supports for the necessary adaption.

Abstract: Globalization is the economic policy of integration of national economies with global economy on the basis of free market competition. It is a neoliberal prescription for industrialization and growth of the emerging economies of the South and a project of capital accumulation for the capitalist North through a process of securing disproportionate share of benefits at the expense of the developing South. The content analysis and Malaysia’s globalization experience poise to support the hypothesis that globalization has high potential to contribute to industrialization and growth of the emerging economies, but at the same time, the way it is practiced, it is a deceptive game of the North and cannot be trusted wholeheartedly for emancipation of the developing economies. The paper suggests for a policy of target oriented ‘inclusive globalization’ to ensure equitable share of benefits of specialization and globalization.

Abstract: Private (first sector) and public (second sector) sector economics, both individually and jointly, have failed to ensure the wellbeing of human societies on the national and global levels. In response, social enterprise (third sector) economics, which features cooperatives and not-for-profit social enterprises, foundations (awqāf), and similar undertakings, has emerged as a make-up strategy in an attempt to counter the deficiencies of the market-state economic model. However, there is a strongly felt belief that the third sector needs to be broadened and mainstreamed in order to include both not-for-profit and for-profit businesses blended with social justice (via provision of such social welfare programs as corporate social responsibility) so that they can play a major role in poverty alleviation and economic growth. Islamic entrepreneurship, which is basically a community-centric mode of business initiative, is an antidote to the problem of intolerable economic and social dualism, a natural strategy against all forms of capitalist exploitation and attempts to control a nation’s resources. Moreover, it is the natural model for solving economic inequity, wealth concentration, and social divides. Based on its potential and using examples from Bangladesh and Malaysia, we present the Islamic style of entrepreneurship. We contend that this particular style is the most efficient and desirable one for effectively widening and mainstreaming community-centric third sector economics so that it can ensure development with equity and social justice especially in developing countries.

Abstract: The decision of crop selection and the output of agricultural production are highly determined by the environmental factors, especially rainfall and water availability. In the tropical area, particularly in Malaysia, influences of these exogenous variables are so high that overall agricultural productions are now vulnerable. Crops are affected through rainfall in two different ways-high and low rainfalls. Avoiding the problem of low rainfall is nearly possible through irrigation, but over rainfall at the end of crop cycle causes destructive damages of the output. Approach: This study uses descriptive statistics to analyze the fact and uses unit root test to measure the predictability of rainfall. The raw data is taken from 8 stations from 1980 to 2007. Results: Shifting crop cycle is also not fruitful due to un-predictive changes of rainfall. All combination of crop cycle is also affected in a similar way. Government subsidy in agricultural sector is remarkably increasing, but farmers are not able to cope properly with the environmental changes, especially for the cash crops and seasonal crops production. Conclusion: Under this circumstance, in the short run, adaptation approaches should be followed in farmer level and policy level. In the long run, technological advancement will play the most crucial role to solve the problem.

Abstract: Climate change refers to a significant and lasting change in the statistical distribution of weather patterns in terms of change in average weather conditions or in the distribution of weather around the average conditions over periods ranging from decades to millions of years. Global warming, which refers to the rise in the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans since the late 19th century, is one of the most visible impacts of climate change. Since the early 20th century, Earth’s mean surface temperature has increased by about 0.8 °C (1.4 °F), with about two-thirds of the increase occurring since 1980. Scientists are more than 90% certain that this warming of the climate system is primarily caused by increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases produced by human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. Climate model projections summarized in the 2007 Fourth Assessment Report (AR4) by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicated that during the 21st century, the global surface temperature is likely to rise a further 1.1 to 2.9 °C (2 to 5.2 °F) for their lowest emissions scenario and 2.4 to 6.4 °C (4.3 to 11.5 °F) for their highest

Abstract: Until 2015, market share of Indonesian Islamic banking was still below of total 5% Indonesian banking market share. One effort to increase the market share is to spin off its Islamic business unit into Islamic commercial banks. One of the banks that undergoes the process was Bank EFG Syariah. However,Bank EFG Syariah has not been showing an optimal performance, which is indicated by reduced levels of corporate profitability in 2015. The aim of this study was to develop a performance model for measuring the relative efficiency and potential improvement capabilities of Bank EFG Syariah branches for the period 2014 and 2015. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique is utilitized here under production and profitability models. Another purpose was to investigate the production and profitability aspects of branches and to measured productivity change of Bank EFG Syariah branches between period. In this study the nature of efficiency and productivity change was investigate through the Malmquist Index. The results showed that there was an increase of 6% in high production-high profitable branches group, a decreased of 8% of the low production-high profitable branches group, a decreased of 7% the high production-low profitable branches group, and an increased of 4% in low production-low profitable branches group. Abstract: Economic zone or export processing zone in a country is a purpose-built industrial park with infrastructure designed to suit the needs of foreign as well as local investors. In order to tempt foreign investors into the zones the host developing countries offer a variety of incentives. By encouraging and motivating the multinational companies to settle their Greenfield investments in developing countries, the economic zone scheme acts as a tool for empowering the local economy to gain multiple capabilities and go global increasingly to facilitate income convergence between the industrialized and the developing countries through equitable sharing of the gains from trade. Nonetheless, it is not a magic wand. Its experiences in Malaysia and Bangladesh clearly show that it can create wonder only when it is appropriately designed and managed. It is suggested that Bangladesh borrows a leaf from the rich experiences of Malaysia‟s economic zone model, to restructure and revitalize her economic zone scheme for greater success

Abstract: Despite a bourgeoning literature on the existence of a long-run relationship between energy consumption and economic growth, the findings have failed to establish clearly the direction of causation. A growing economy needs more energy, which is exacerbated by growing population. Evidence suggests that financial development can reduce overall energy consumption by achieving energy efficiency. Economic growth and energy consumption in Malaysia have been rising in tandem over the past several years. The three public policy objectives of Malaysia are: economic progress, population growth and financial development. It is of interest to the policymakers to understand the dynamic interrelation among the stated objectives. The paper implements Auto Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to cointegration to examine the existence of a long-run relationship among the series: energy consumption, population, aggregate production, and financial development for Malaysia; and tests for Granger causality within the Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results suggest that energy consumption is influenced by economic growth and financial development, both in the short and the long-run, but the population-energy relation holds only in the long run. The findings have important policy implications for balancing economic growth vis-à-vis energy consumption for Malaysia, as well as other emerging nations.

Abstract: The development of small and micro enterprises have a very important role in the development of the regional economy. it can be seen from the amount of employment opportunities provided by UMKM for the community. UMKM existence cannot be under timed, because UMKM have a proven able to with stand the economic crisis that occurred in Indonesia. However, in the development of UMKM cannot be separated from in habiting fact that hit existence of UMKM. Several classic problems that occur in UMKM is lack of capital in the developing the business, unhealthy market competition that still happening until now is the market competition with product made in china. Lack of information about the market network and still lack of innovation in creating new product-products. UMKM therefore very much require the role of government in the developing small andmiddlebusiness.

Abstract: The growth of multi-sided platform (MSP) firms, especially those with high Internet utilization such as Uber, Tokopedia, Go-Jek as well as other sharing economy firms, started to catch the attention of strategic management scholars. Since multi-sided platforms have more than one distinct user side with various role in the business ecosystem, the strategic alliances between the MSP and its platform members may play a significant role in increasing the user base as well as the value of the platform itself. However, there are still few researches that discuss the strategic alliances within the MSP. For this reason, this conceptual article aims at mapping the strategic alliances literature relevant to the MSP context through in-depth literature review. Two case analyses from high growth MSP firms in Indonesia are presented to explain this phenomenon.

Abstract: Formation of new autonomous regions are meant to promote effective governance, by reducing the span of control of the previous more extensive area, improving the quality of public services, increasing the wealth of the local people, setting the fiscal balance between central and local government, increasing employment and capital inflow. However, the formation process of North MusiRawas as a new autonomous region took 11 years since proposed in 2002 until signed by the central government in 2013. This paper argues that the factors behind the long delay were mainly political factors, instead of administrative. Administrate, the region is eligible to be established as a new autonomous region. This study uses the NVivo Program as a tool for conducting primary and secondary data analyzed from direct interviews, meeting results and statements from related parties. From the research results obtained that the political process, however, involves a series of events in its history that generated constraints for establishing North MusiRawas as a new autonomous region. The historical facts include leadership contest between Governor of South Sumatera and Regent of MusiRawas, conflict over control of the natural gas resource in Suban 4, central government's moratorium policy to new autonomous region formation, leadership change, and internal conflict within the social movement to demand autonomy among local people. It argued in this paper that absence of political network and lack of organization of social mobility to demand freedom allows the recurring events that created constraints to the political process of establishing North MusiRawas as a new regency. The absence of political network to elites in the regional and national levels complicate the political communication to pursue autonomy. It explains why the conflict between Governor and Regent can halt the proposal. Weak organization of social movement allowed internal strife and complicated the resource mobilization to achieve the political goal.

Abstract: The ‘private’ and ‘public’ sector economics found their own strong places to play roles in the mainstream economy. At the end, however, these two systems – the private, popularly called the first sector economy, and the public, called the second sector economy - both individually and jointly have been found seriously inadequate and incapable to ensuring wellbeing of human societies nationally and globally. Responding to such a situation a number of nonconventional approaches like cooperatives and social enterprises, waqaf, foundations, and other non-profit institutions, etc., together called third sector economy, were moved and promoted to ensure social justice and wellbeing of mankind. Initially it emerged as a make-up and defensive strategy of the market-state model to meet the minimum of unmet requirements in the sectors where the market and state have grossly failed. It, thus, played only a subordinate role. As a result, it could not help much to solve the problem of economic inequity, concentration of wealth, and social divides. However it is strongly felt that a broadly based third sector economic model with both not for-profit business like enterprises and for-profit businesses blended with social justice is necessary to play its role as a mainstream model not only for poverty alleviation but also for economic growth to bridge the economic and social divides. Mainstreaming the third sector is the urgent call of the day. Islamic entrepreneurship, which is basically a community-centric mode of business initiative, is an antidote to the problem of intolerable economic and social dualism in the economies. It is a natural strategy against all forms of capitalist exploitations, like in the past through European colonialism and now through American led terrorism, to control resources. Accordingly it is the natural model for solving the problems of economic inequity, concentration of wealth, and social divides. Therefore, this study finds the Islamic mode of entrepreneurship as most suitable and effective for widening and mainstreaming the third sector economics, more particularly in the developing countries. Johor Corporation (JCorp) in Malaysia and Sheba Polly in Bangladesh are examples of two types of Islamic style third sector enterprises – one is staunchly business like initiative and the other is cost based charity initiative for social benefit. For the development and promotion of the community-centric third sector economics model, the paper recommends for urgently establishing a research and development centre on third sector economics preferably under an Islamic Research and Development Institute in any reputed university

Abstract: Using recent data from the Current Population Survey, we investigate education and wages among second-generation African Americans with a focus on Nigerian Americans. The results indicate that the educational attainment of second-generation Nigerian Americans exceeds other second-generation African Americans, third-and-higher generation African Americans, third-and-higher generation whites, and second-generation whites. The educational attainment of second-generation Nigerian American women furthermore exceeds second-generation Asian American women. After controlling for age, education and disability, the wages of second-generation Nigerian American women have reached parity with third-and-higher generation white women whereas third-and-higher generation African American women have about 11 percent lower wages. After controlling for age, education and disability in the case of men, the wages of second-generation Nigerian American men have reached parity with third-and-higher generation white men whereas third-and-higher generation African American men have about 21 percent lower wages while other second-generation African American men have about 12 percent lower wages than third-and-higher generation white men. Contrary to the usual pattern of socioeconomic disadvantage for African Americans, these results indicate that second-generation Nigerian Americans have exceeded whites in educational attainment and have reached parity with equally-educated whites in terms of wage determination among employed workers. Nonetheless, we view our results as being only suggestive and call for more research on the socioeconomic outcomes of second-generation African Americans who have been relatively neglected in immigration studies.

Abstract: Disconnected urban street networks, which we call “street-network sprawl,” are strongly associated with increased vehicle travel, energy use and CO_{2} emissions, as shown by previous research in Europe and North America. In this paper, we provide the first systematic and globally commensurable measures of street-network sprawl based on graph-theoretic and geographic concepts. Using data on all 46 million km of mapped streets worldwide, we compute these measures for the entire Earth at the highest possible resolution. We generate a summary scalar measure for street-network sprawl, the Street-Network Disconnectedness index (SNDi), as well as a data-driven multidimensional classification that identifies eight empirical street-network types that span the spectrum of connectivity, from gridiron to dendritic (tree-like) and circuitous networks. Our qualitative validation shows that both the scalar and multidimensional measures are meaningfully comparable within and across countries, and successfully capture varied dimensions of walkability and urban development. We further show that in select high-income countries, our measures explain cross-sectional variation in household transportation decisions, and a one standard-deviation increase in SNDi is associated with an extra 0.25 cars owned per household. We aggregate our measures to the scale of countries, cities, and smaller geographies and describe patterns in street-network sprawl around the world. Latin America, Japan, South Korea, much of Europe and North Africa stand out for their low levels of street-network sprawl, while the highest levels are found in south-east Asia, the United States and the British Isles.

Abstract: Animal production accounts for 16 % of the international agri-food trade. The growing imbalance between supply and demand for animal products in Asian countries, where consumption is growing, particularly in China, is boosting trade for the benefit of the major exporting countries: the European Union (EU), the United States, New Zealand, Brazil and Australia. While this development offers trade opportunities for structurally surplus countries, purchases are not always consistent from year to year and price competition is very strong, although some countries have qualitative requirements. The EU, which has a surplus in dairy products and pig meat, but is deficient (in value) in beef and poultry meat, is the world's largest exporter of animal products (with 22 % of the total, excluding intra-EU trade in 2016). This article deals with the evolution of trade in animal products using customs statistics data (BACI and COMEXT) from 2000 to 2016. It presents the evolution of international trade for different types of goods (dairy products, beef, pig meat, poultry meat) and highlights the trade trajectories of the main deficit countries (China, Japan and Russia) and the main surplus countries (India, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, the United States and the EU).
Abstract: Les productions animales représentent 16 % du commerce agroalimentaire international.

Abstract: Population explosion of the last century necessitated adoption of a population stabilization policy internationally but without due consideration of its paradoxical impacts on future world economic and environmental sustainability and progress of civilization. Population stabilization policy makes world fertility level (projected) to fall below the replacement level by 2043. This will result in a declining work-age population endangering economic and environmental sustainability particularly during 2050 and beyond. This study has made an attempt to highlight this paradox of population stabilization policy in terms of its impacts on economic and environmental sustainability. It analyses the catch of the need for a declining population in order to maintain a stable population. It also analyses the time taking process of changing fertility habit of the human community under the concepts of „child bearing habitual gap‟ and „work-age formation gap‟. It argues that for a progressive and sustainable world economy a greater and rising work-age population is required and observes that world needs to maintain population growth at a rate balanced in terms of countries and earth‟s absorption capacity.

Abstract: The implications of Public Private Partnership (PPP) concept has acknowledged utmost attention from different governments around the world especially in terms of service quality, efficiencies in procurement and risk management, extent of investment undertaken by private sponsor and the ability to generate managerial and technical capabilities. PPPs are seen as a way forward for creating a sustainable atmosphere in terms of economic, social and environmental considerations. However, the variations of PPP schemes have their own set of advantage and limitations over one to another vis-a-vis typical public sector procurement. While adopting and promoting PPPs in a country by the government and involving private sector for a particular PPP deal, specific issues and factors associated with the project must be considered for ensuring sustainability of the project as well as the interest of all stakeholders, i.e, government, private sector and the users. This study focuses on these factors that will help the involved parties to ensure the sustainability of the PPP projects and a fruitful win win contract.

Abstract: This article tries to realize a solution how to make use of geology for eco-tourism and economic activities at the site management level. The paradigm in the management of geowisata is how the management of tourism is able to optimize the potential of nature (geology) to be added value for the economic welfare of local communities, as well as able to minimize the potential of natural damage. Therefore, this article attempts to recommend a geotourism management model. Abstract: The actual phenomenon in the field proves that the development of Kampung Tulip has not been representative enough as a themed education of the Netherlands Culture. Although some of the rides have been built to match the typical homes of the Netherlands, but the activities and educational nuances have not been visible during the observation period in the field. Therefore, community service activities focused on empowerment to improve the educational tourism governance in the destinations of Tulip Village. Implementative steps that have been carried out include: (1) Exploring the core of the problem in developing Tulip Village through observation and interviews with managers; (2) Providing management recommendations through seminar seminars and training on educational tourism and tourism sustainable management to the managers of Tulip Village; (3) Provision of guidance book for educational tourism development in Tulip Village.
